ONLINE LEARNING

There are endless educational websites for kids of all ages to learn virtually in a safe environment. Below is a collection of some of my favorite according to subject. They have one major thing in common -- they make learning fun and engaging.

BRAIN BREAKS

Taking brain breaks are now more important than ever since distance learning has increased onscreen time and children are sitting for longer periods of time. Brain breaks are short one-to-two minute activities that give children a break from what they're working on. Research shows that a short and energizing burst of activity will send more oxygen to the brain and will help kids retain information better and increase focus and attention.

GoNoodle® has movement and mindfulness videos created by child development experts. Families can sign in for a free account.

Move to Learn has fitness video routines for kids. The focus is on movement in the classroom, but the videos can be done at home, as well.

Cosmic Kids! has videos that children can follow along with. This site focuses mostly on yoga and flexibility.

Here are some other resources for brain breaks:

  • Childhood 101 - This site has a library of yoga videos for kids.
  • Debbie Doo - This youtube channel is perfect for younger kids. It has movement routines to simple songs.
  • The Learning Station - This youtube channel has a variety of action songs that will appeal to all kids.
  • Move to Learn - This youtube channel has fun workouts for kids of all ages.
